David Grand, Ph.D. discovered Brainspotting (BSP) in 2003.  Now, over 13,000 therapists, in 52 countries, have been trained in this deeply effective method of healing and coming back to wholeness.

Brainspotting uses focused mindfulness to connect mind and body.  It accesses the sub-conscious, the mid-brain area, where the blocks as well as the profound healing energies are held.  As the mind and body connect and work together, release and transformation occur.

A typical Brainspotting session lasts 60-90 minutes. The client has on headphones, with bilateral music quietly playing.  The client activates an issue by bringing the emotions of it to the surface.  This then leads to a physical sensation.  A Brainspot is an eye position connected to that physical sensation.  The entire body’s own healing abilities come on board and the client and therapist follow where the body’s wisdom goes, witnessed by shifting emotions, physical sensations and memories.  “Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms.” https://brainspotting.com/about-bsp/what-is-brainspotting/
